Even though this is nearly 3 years old, I still feel compelled to add some moments:

1) The Ronettes "Be My Baby." As swiped by the Cramps and Jesus and Mary Chain, the thunderous drums which kick off the song are stirring and soothing all at once. Phil Spector is god.

2) Elvis Presley "Blue Moon" and "Hound Dog." After years of denying Elvis, I can do so no longer. His version of "Blue Moon" is the darkest, moodiest piece of recorded music in existence, especially the first quiet scraping of the guitar, and the drum bridge in "Hound Dog" will rev the most staid and stoic person up.

3) Angry Samoans "Gas Chamber." The ripping opening guitar is a fitting precursor to one of the shortest, snottiest, most offensive punk albums ever. Fast and cheap, and it still makes me go tense 15 years after it was at all relevant.

And that's my two cents.
