Michael Robert Henrion Posner is popularly referred to by the stage name Mike Posner. He is an American singer and record producer born February 12, 1988, in Detroit, Michigan, United States of America.

He was born to a Jewish father, Jon Posner, and a catholic mom Roberta Henrion Posner, and he also has a sister, Emily Herion Posner. He lived in Southfield, Michigan, United States of America.

He started his career during his undergraduate studies at Duke University, where he balanced studying with his musical career. He started singing for the college crowd and compiled several mixtapes during his school days.

During the summer of 2009, one of his singles, titled Matter of Time, topped the digital chart. He was signed to J Records upon graduation and released his full-length debut album titled 30 Minutes before Takeoff in 2010. The album hit the top ten in the US.

Education

Mike attended Bingham Farms Elementary school for his Elementary education. He went to two schools for his secondary education; Berkshire Middle school and Groves High school.

He proceeded to Duke University to study Sociology, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts and a 3.6 CGPA. He also obtained a certificate in Markets and Management.

Mike Posner started his career as a student on Duke University Campus with his hometown friend Big Sean as a songwriter and record producer. He produced Big Sean’s Debut Mixtape titled Smoke and Drive. In 2009, Mike Posner started getting the industry’s attention with his second Mixtape, A Matter of Time. 

The Mixtape was recorded under the name Mike Posner & The Brains Trust through small-town records at Duke University. The Brains trust was referring to Mike Posner supporters. The release was distributed through the iTunes U channel for free. Being an educational audio content platform, it was strange for Posner Mixtape to be distributed.

The release got a large number of responses and was heavily recognized. It also had a high profile and reached the top position on the iTunes U Chart.

Mike Posner released his third Mixtape titled One Foot Out the Door and a web series in 2009. Again, in the same year, he signed a record deal with J records in 2009, where he recorded his debut album titled 31 Minutes to Takeoff. The Debut album was released in 2010 after he graduated from Duke University.
