His father, Keke Rosberg, was a Finnish racing driver, while his mother was a German  interpreter named Gesine “Sina” Rosberg (formerly Gleitsmann-Dengel). His father won the 1982 Formula One World Championship.

Growing up, Rosberg had issues with self-esteem. This was because his father, Keke Rosberg, had been a F1 World Champion in 1982 and Rosberg did not believe that he could be as good as his father.

Nico Rosberg is married to his childhood friend, Vivian Sibold. Sibold, an interior designer, had started off as a friend of the Rosberg family. However, in 2003, she and Rosberg became close and began a relationship.

The couple were together for many years until they finally tied the knot in July 2014. In August 2015, they welcomed a baby girl into their family.

Having a father who was a professional car racer gave Rosberg an early start in his career. When he was four, he had his first driving experience when his father took him to a go-kart track in Ibiza for a holiday.

By age six, he started competitive racing with his father as his manager. He tasted success early, winning regional and national French championships.

After that, he moved on to European-based series and world championships. By age 16, he moved on to professional car racing, going on to nine races.

His wins gave him the right to claim the 2002 Formula BMW ADAC Championship with VIVA Racing. He later moved on to the higher-tier Formula 3 Euro Series with Team Rosberg in 2003 and 2004.

From 2013 till 2016, he teamed up with former karting friend and seven-time World Drivers’ Champion, Lewis Hamilton. He finished runner-up to his teammate twice before eventually winning the world championship in 2016.
