Residente founded the band Calle 13 in 2004. The duo signed with White Lion Records after a few years of adversity, and the label released their contentious singles “Querido F.B.I.” and “Se Vale To-To.”

Calle 13 became one of Puerto Rico’s most successful musical acts. With their videos, performances, and recordings, they inspired an entire generation of rappers and musicians. They rose to prominence as national heroes, politicians, and artists.
They started collaborating with other well-known musicians, such as Cuba’s Orishas, Nelly Furtado, and Alejandro Sanz, to name a few. As the band’s notoriety increased, their ambitions had no limitations, and they infused their music with jazz, funk, and salsa.
