David Darnell Brown, popularly known as Young Buck, is an American rapper, actor, songwriter, and music producer. He started rapping at 12 years old and was known for being part of a music group, G-Unit, founded by 50 Cent. Then, he fell out with 50 cents, and this chaos led to his separation from the group in 2008.

David Darnell Brown, popularly known as Young Buck, was born on March 15, 1981, in Nashville, Tennessee, United States of America. His father’s name is James Brown, and his mother’s name is Audrey Horn. Young Buck started rapping at the age of 12.

Young Buck had a friend at that time, Clay Cole, who excelled at rapping; he was envious of his rapping ability. Soon Young Buck began to learn the art of music to beat his friend. Thus, he started recording at the studio at the age of 14.

The co-founder and leading man of cash money record label Brian ‘Baby’ Williams discovered Young Buck at 16 in a rap battle. Young Buck dropped out of high school to pursue his career, then signed with cash money in 1995. He was with the group for many years.

Young Buck tied the knot with Tanee MacCall in 2002; they both have five children; Jayla, Maya, Dede, David, and an Unnamed Infant.

Young Buck underwent a blood transfusion after he was shot severally in-home invasion in his house in Nashville in 2000. And in the year 2004, Young Buck was arrested for stabbing a man at the VIBE awards. He had a deal with the prosecutor to prevent going for trial.

Similarly, in 2005, he was arrested after the police found two guns in the van he was driving. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.

Young Buck started his musical career by signing with the Cash money record label. He made a deal worth $500 thousand with the record label in 1995. He was with the group for five years and never featured in any Cash money record label album. Then he left the group for another record label, UTP records.

He joined the Juvenile rap group UTP records, where he developed his stage name. His first appearance in a song was singles, Memphis, which featured bigger rap artists like Three 3 Mafia, Project Pat, and others.

Young Buck released his first studio album, Born to Be a Thug, with the record label in 2002. Likewise, in the same year, he released a solo album, Born to Be a Thug, on the same label. Young Buck left the record label in 2003 to the G-Unit record label.

The Born to be a Thug album caught the attention of 50 Cent, who proposed to sign him to his record label G-Unit. Young Buck joined the G-Unit record label in 2003, and then he co-wrote and featured on the 50 cents track, Bloodhound.

The group released its debut album, Beg for Mercy, in 2003. The album hit the top 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified two times platinum by RIAA.

In 2004, Young Buck released his first major solo album, Straight Outta Nashville, which was a success and went platinum. The album was on various charts worldwide in countries like; Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. The record label had a huge impact on the success.

Young Buck started collaborating with other artists for singles, mixtapes, and albums as part of the G-unit record label. Some of his collaborated project albums include; Beg For Mercy, Get Rich or Die Trying, and many more. Young Buck released some singles hits like, Let me In, Shorty Wanna Ride, I Know You Want Me, and Look at Me Now.

In 2007, Young Buck drooped another solo album, Buck The World, and in 2008, the G-Unit group album, Terminate on Sight was released.

Young Buck’s work with 50 cents was sometimes rocky and involved in a rift, leading to his separation from G-Unit. Young Buck confirmed he was not with the group in 2012.

Upon separation began to attack the group and, more specifically, the leader, 50 cents by releasing some soundtracks. The G-Unit were also releasing corresponding tracks, one of which featured a recorded phone call of Young Back pleading to come back.

Young Back couldn’t release any album because his contract with G-unit was still intact. After the long battle, Young Buck settled with his former group. He united with the group in 2014 and stated that he owes the group, G-Unit, one more album titled Rehab.

He appeared on Eps The Beauty of Independence and The Beast on the G-Unit record label, reaching the top 3 on the Top Rap Albums chart. In 2015, He released a mixtape, Before The Beast, and several more, including Compulsive in 2019 and Vaccine in 2021
